Your Chance To Win Foreign Puppies Reading Comic Books In The Darkness Of Space
Start: July 18th, 2005
End: July 24th, 2005
• A Moment Of Innocence, courtesy New Yorker Films
A poetic and often comic re-construction of an incident that dramatically
affected the lives of two people. In 1974, director Mohsen Makhmalbaf, then a
17-year-old rebel against the Shah's regime, stabbed a young policeman during a
botched attempt to steal the cop's gun. Makhmalbaf spent five reflective years
in prison, and was freed after the Islamic revolution. While making an earlier
film, Makhmalbaf met the same policeman, who showed up and declared he wanted to
be an actor. In re-creating their violent encounter for film, it becomes clear
that each man had a unique perspective on the events of that fateful day. Two
lucky winners will each experience A MOMENT OF INNOCENCE, courtesy of the karmic
forces at New Yorker Films.
• The Silence, courtesy New Yorker Films
From one of Iran's most celebrated filmmakers, comes a hypnotic symphony of
visual and aural rhythms. The Silence follows the life of Khorshid, a blind
10-year old boy who experiences the world through sound. Khorshid earns money
tuning musical instruments. Nadereh, the beautiful young protegee of the
instrument maker, acts as his eyes. About to lose his job and his home, Khorshid
creates a world where he can be happy; where hypnotic sounds and the music of
the world shows him how to experience life. Two lucky winners will each
experience THE SILENCE, courtesy of the auditory impressionists at New Yorker
Films.
