Gordon Sullivan's love of movies began when the Superstore Video News opened a shop in his tiny home town of Ft. Pierce, FL. Featuring $0.99 catalog VHS rentals, this video store offered an eclectic alternative to the family fare of the bigger chains like Blockbuster. Between the store's wire shelves, he fell in love with the films of such directors as Scorsese and Cronenberg, as well as the fare of less notable directors like the auteur behind Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death.
The advent of DVD afforded Gordon, like many other film lovers, the opportunity to appreciate a wider array of cinematic offerings. While earning his B.A. in English at the University of Central Florida, Gordon explored the increasing Japanese import scene, as well as the American indie scene of directors like Jim Jarmusch. Gordon's increasing critical interest in film led him to pursue a graduate degree in Film Studies, so in the summer of 2005, it was off to Raleigh, NC to attend North Carolina State University. Two years -- and a thesis on the films of David Croenenberg -- later, Gordon graduated with a degree of dubious commercial value. To keep the wolves of poverty at bay, Gordon currently teaches writing to freshmen at his alma mater.
When not glued to his television or obsessively checking his Netflix queue, Gordon enjoys musical pursuits, including playing the guitar. He can also be found occasionally wandering the lovely countryside in one of North Carolina's many state and local parks.
