Russell Engebretson's single movie appearance was as an extra in Elvis Presley's magnum opus It Happened at the World's Fair. He spent an afternoon in the Oklahoma City racing grandstand with his mother, grandmother, and a few hundred other hot, bored spectators. His memory of the event is murky.
Prior to Russell's distinguished movie career, he was scared witless by viewing The Deadly Mantis at a local drive-in theater. He claims this explains his generally listless behavior and lack of ambition. It's also possible the 200 foot tall, fire-breathing praying mantis -- along with Laurel and Hardy -- launched his lifelong obsession with film.
He plays nylon-string guitar at irregular intervals, hoards books, and views more movies than should be allowed by law. Russell would like to relocate to a castle somewhere in the South of France (with his wife, dog, and herd of cats). Barring a move to Europe, he will continue to annoy his neighbors by going barefoot and never watering his lawn.
