Medium update
March 12th, 2005 9:16PM

According to my dear colleague Judge Hatch, Medium has been picked up for another season. I'm glad to discover that my words have such power and will now take full advantage of that revelation...

Are you also watching Veronica Mars? Its protagonist is snarkier than Ted Danson's Becker (not that I ever watched that show or anything) and has the added benefit of actually being funny instead of just bitter-old-man annoying. She's tough, she's strong, and she's blonde. What more could you ask for?

And how about Scrubs? This one has Zach Braff, whom I have every intention of marrying someday. It's quite possibly the funniest thing on television and should be rewarded simply for being a network sitcom without a laugh track. It's more than funny, though; it's actually powerfully wrought with message at times, but it's never once crossed over into sappy. I respect it for the ability to walk that line. Plus, Zach Braff.

(Oh, and Judge Ryan, just for you...Here's a shout-out for Miss Match on DVD...for the sake of your Alicia Silverstone collection, I hope my powers work by proxy...)

TV you should be watching
March 2nd, 2005 7:21PM

Are you watching Medium? I hope so, because I'm going to be really pissed at you if you aren't and it gets cancelled. It's quality television, and, besides, what the hell else is on at 10PM on a Monday? (At least, I think that's when it's on...I'm addicted to Tivo, so I don't know when anything's on anymore.) Anyway, it's directed by the creator of Moonlighting, which completely makes sense when you look at the Maddie-and-David-like dynamic between the protagonist and her husband. There was a hole left gaping with the departure of The X-Files that I've never quite been able to fill, and Medium, with its supernatural bent, comes closer to filling it than anything else has. Plus, the middle daughter reminds me of me at that age -- brilliant and adorable. Hmm, I guess she kinda reminds me of me at this age, too.
