10+ films, 10 nights, 10 years… Danger After Dark 10+ films, 10 nights, 10 years… Danger After Dark Philadelphia’s Danger After Dark is back for its 10th Anniversary and returning to its confrontational roots, showing the darkest, most bizarre cinema Philadelphia has ever seen. Starting July 9th and ending July 19th, this 10-day summer festival will be centered in exciting Old City at Philadelphia’s favorite art-house cinemas, the Ritz Bourse. Danger After Dark has been a launching point for such fan favorites as High Tension, Suicide Club, and The Descent. These films were instant crowd pleasers at Danger After Dark festivals over the past ten years and quickly grew to be shown at wider audience screenings. This year’s films include: Dogtooth: This Greek drama won the Prix Un Certain Regard Award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and tells the story of children who are shut off from the world who turn to their father and each other for sexual release. Gone With the Pope: Duke Mitchell created this film as a tribute to what Mean Streets and The Godfather could have been had they been made by those who inhabited that world. A mix of violence, sexual encounters and very un-PC humor makes this ex-con flick one to be enjoyed by any movie fan. Danger After Dark is produced as a part of the Philadelphia Cinema Alliance genre sidebar series. Danger After Dark will be showing a series of ten films over ten days all screening at 10:00pm.
