I watched Vera Cruz yesterday- love the movie; hate the transfer. First of all the Superscope OAR of 2:1 has been blown up to I don't know what, resulting in a fuzzy, noisy, mess. The colors only once in a while give a hint of what they once were and add to that a very bad splice and visible reel change cues and you get the idea. Too bad since the film itself is a lot of fun with Lancaster at his grinnin' best and he even mouths the line "I'll be a son of a bitch!" Pretty daring line for a '54 film. MGM calls this a "Western Legends" disc. Too bad it gets such little respect.
"You can lead a horse to water but a pencil must be lead"-Stan Laurel
Moe-"Were you scared?" Larry-"No, just apprehensive." Moe-"Apprehensive, that's a pretty big word. What's it mean?" Larry-"That's scared with a college education!"
