Tyler Perry to play Alex Cross

Previous reports that Idris Elba was going to play Alex Cross in a reboot directed by David Twohy had me all tingly; Elba is amazing in Luther, and would have brought a wonderful intensity to the role.

But because we cannot have nice things, Elba and Twohy have been replaced by Tyler Perry and Rob Cohen. This news doesn't make me all tingly; it makes me want to find the people responsible and eviscerate them with a rusty melonballer.

Nothing good can come from this news. Well, the only good thing is that Tyler Perry will be busy for like 12 weeks and that means they'll be 12 weeks were he won't be working on another crappy Tyler Perry project of his own and we can sleep a little better knowing this although the Catch 22 is that Tyler Perry is going to be cast as Alex Cross so I guess we've lost the battle.
