Blue Valentine - i dont remember

I was thinking about renting a movie on iTunes tonight and noticed Blue Valentine was released. I remember an issue going on with the MPAA about something but can't recall if it was resolved or not. Has that been released in both rated and unrated versions (NC-17 or whatever?) iTunes has it R rated and I can't remember if the producers won the appeal or not. I would like to see the movie.
