Judge Valdivia, I think your review is spot-on. Two channels (Sci-Fi and Chiller) have recently given me the opportunity to revisit this show, and I'm surprised that it's actually even *better* than I remember. Zero budget perhaps, but still some surprisingly sophisticated storytelling. Thanks to your review, I now know why: high-quality writers.

I also thought the series had some evocative backdrops that, when merged with live action, look positively otherwordly.
