G.I. Joe The Movie (Blu Ray)

Amen on the Cobra-La storyline, Steve.

As a kid growing up in the 80's, G.I. Joe was my 2nd favorite cartoon (Transformers #1). The whole Cobra-LA storyline was way out there & too fantastical even by the cartoon's standards. G.I. Joe taking on an ancient superpowered reptile/humanoid race & super-sized insects(?). Don't even get me started on their overlong & obnoxius battle cry: COBRA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA! Ugh! However, I can't hate any movie that has the greatest opening intro in cartoon history & Sgt. Slaughter kicking a$$ & delivering bad a$$ one liners ("At Ease, Disease!") left & right.

I thought G.I. Joe started going off the rails with the whole Serpentor nonsense. Where as Cobra Commander was charismatic, hilarious, & had Chris "Starscream" Latta voicing him, all Serpentor could do was scream at the top of his lungs all the time & yell his "THIS I COMMAND!" catchphrase. It was so much better in the 1st season with Destro, The Baronness, Zartan, & etc. were always trying to usurp the Commander's power, where as in the 2nd season, they became suck-ups to Serpentor.

Let's hope that the abortions known as the DIC produced G.I. Joe cartoons never get released because if they do, the collective lameness of those shows will end the world as we know it.

It's one of those things that plays so much better now than it did when i saw it at the age of 9 or 10.

Sure i had youtubed the intro a dozen times or so over the years, but it was great to go back and revisit the entire thing. It was about as well directed as Transformers: The Movie was. Robotech was always my #1, Transformers probably came in 3rd or 4th, i didn't have GI Joe in my area.

As for DiC... ugh... Got to get tough! Yo Joe!

Tough isn't the word - have to be more than tough to make it through that horrid mess. They ruined M.A.S.K as well.
As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states:"Don't start none... won't be none...".
