I'm so glad I got to see him in concert about 5 years ago at UOP. Here was a stooped old man, had to be assisted up the stairs on stage, who sat down at the piano and just started SMOKIN'!!!

"Take Five" will always remind me of our family's first vacation to California in 1959. The song was all over the radio during that trip, and as we drove from Santa Monica to Disneyland and other wonders, that tune set the mood. My folks never played jazz in the house (they were more into "Sing Along With Mitch" records), so at age 6 I had never heard anything like that.
