New Podcast - Gangster Movies

Postby cdouglas » Tue Jul 07, 2009 6:45 am

A new podcast is up, see! It's music from gangster movies this week, and a wide variety of interesting scores are included for your listening pleasure. This week, you'll hear...

The Godfather - Nino Rota
Once Upon a Time in America - Ennio Morricone
The Untouchables - Ennio Morricone
Miller's Crossing - Carter Burwell
The Departed - Howard Shore
Scarface - Giorgio Morodor
Gangs of New York - Howard Shore
High Sierra - Adolf Deutsch
Carlito's Way - Patrick Doyle
Running Scared - Mark Isham

Plus, a review of Michael Mann's new film Public Enemies. Give it a listen! Only a dirty, no-good, back-stabbing, motherless rat would refuse to check out this podcast.

Next week: A requested theme from the request thread gets turned into a show!

I was just listening to it while you posted - some really gorgeous stuff in there! Due to the use of The Dropkick Murphys I hadn't really noticed Shore's score for The Departed - it's heavily influenced by Rota but still its own thing. Can't wait to hear next week's show!

Great show! Unfortunately i had to leave for work before i got to hear the Public Enemies review - maybe later tonight.

I've forgotten how much i loved Morricone's Untouchables score, and Carter Burwell's take on Limerick's Lament is one especially beautiful piece of music.
As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states:"Don't start none... won't be none...".
