Sega has only itself to blame for the Dreamcast's demise. I was a big-time Genesis fan during the 16-bit wars with the SNES, but I lost my "Sega faith" with the disappointing Sega CD. Sega further damaged its crediblity with the 32X & Saturn. (For the record, I never owned a Sega CD, 32X, or Saturn.) When it came time to upgrade to a next-gen system in 1999-2000, many gamers thought "fool me once or twice shame on Sega" & "I don't want to be fooled again, so I'll wait a year to buy the PS2". The Dreamcast had a short existence because of the horrible reputation Sega got from its previous systems.

The Dreamcast befuddles me. It's basically a system of Capcom fighters and old school shoot em ups. There's some gravy in the lineup, but 90-odd percent of the titles released were either crappy 90's Quarter munchers or Playstation 1 ports.

That said, I still enjoy the machine, but it can't even remotely compare to the PS2, which i would rank as the single best console in history based on the software lineup.
As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states:"Don't start none... won't be none...".
