E3 2011: Stacked!

Postby alexwagner » Sat May 21, 2011 7:35 pm

Even though I love E3 I stay clear of the hype trains but I must say objectively based on the sheer volume of quality titles 2011 looks the best yet. Only after reading this game informer article did it sink in how stacked 2011 is. Many games here that I had forgotten about. There's a few rumored titles not mentioned which look likely. Remedy have recently confirmed that more Alan Wake is coming that is not a sequel and not DLC the most recent rumors suggest an XBLA title. Then we have Nintendo's hardware reveal...man this is going to be awesome 8)

Gonna be a great year for games now that the "gadget hype" is over with.

It's already been a remarkable year. I'm not sure how they can hope to release that many new titles and give them all the marketing they need in only six months, lol.

Same problem we face every year. Some great stuff always falls through the cracks (Enslaved quickly comes to mind from last fall). As long as Call of Duty hype doesn't swallow everything else again, we'll be ok.

Not sure why Resident Evil Revelations (3DS) isn't on there as it's been confirmed for awhile. Really looking forward to that one even though I'm not planning on getting a 3DS anytime soon.

On another note any advice as to what sites provide the best E3 coverage?

For organization, IGN has been doing a bang up job the last few years, but for quality of writing... well, it's IGN. Gametrailers is decent, and watching the press conferences in full and such is pretty cool. But the information comes a little slower.

I find the lack of hype rather refreshing. Rumblings are that we're going to see a renewed focus on core gaming. Not a "whole lot" ion the way of new announcements, but reappearances of some semi-vanished titles, and further details on titles we have little knowledge of up to now.
