from hollywood reporter

"Lost's" Daniel Dae Kim is staying in Hawaii with a lead role on CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" remake. In CBS' updated take on the classic cop series, from CBS Studios, Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, a role played in the original series by Kam Fong. The part of Detective Steve McGarrett has not yet been cast, though "Moonlight" star Alex O'Loughlin continues to be in talks for it. The new "Hawaii Five-0" hails from hot feature writers and "Fringe" co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and "CSI: NY" executive producer/co-showrunner Peter Lenkov.

i am on the fence about this..most tv retreads have sucked in a way that black holes envy..however Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci don't suck or at least they haven't sucked YET...and i like the idea of always having a show in production in Hawaii - keeps a bunch of folks working and shows off a nice locale. I'm a big fan of DDK and I seriously doubt he will be playing what was basically a side kick, but have nearly no use for Alex O'Loughlin, then again i'm not exactly sure of who WOULD be good enough to fill Jack's shoes.

any thoughts and wishes?

I will watch anything with Daniel Dae Kim, and I have to say the distance from the original is far enough in this case to keep me from worrying about the retread treatment. I mean they HAVE to change it all up and around. So I think it sounds promising. And I do love the locale.

Alex O'Loughlin really is the only part of this story that doesn't do much for me. I didn't find him great in MOONLIGHT, and he's just okay in my book. I hope they find a more exciting lead. How about a washed up movie actor who needs some help? Damn I wish Aaron Eclhart's career had derailed after trying to pine for Jennifer Aniston in LOVE HAPPENS, but THE DARK KNIGHT gig will save him. But I would like to see him in this... just a selfish wish. LOL!

shall we open a book?
i'm taking odds here..

does this get as far as Pilot? 13 episodes or all the way to the end of the season?

i'm sorry but this guy better show me something - cause so far he's so lightweight he floats.
say what you will about McGarrett he could kick some ass and would use this guy to buff he shoes.

btw anyone see the Pilot for Hawaii 5-0? it's hysterical, it's this Dr No ripoff.
with Wo Fat and scuba gear and sharks...ROTFLMAO!
