Outcasts was a BBC eight part sci-fi series shown in Great Britain recently, which received a remorseless pounding from most critics, and was moved from a primetime Monday and Tuesday night slot on BBC1 (2100 hrs) to a late Sunday evening slot (2245 hrs) after viewer figures had dropped to below 3 million. A proposed second series has been cancelled.
To give some idea of the general reaction, a quote from one reviewer: "Anyway. BBC America have got it now which is probably the greatest scam we've pulled off since we sold them 'London Bridge'". Some of the other merciless online reviews make entertaining reading.
The thing is, though, I did not think it was that bad! (Although I would not go so far as to call it particularly good). I reckon it was more watchable than most of the dross on TV.
How has it fared in the USA?
