I only have Freeview television, so I don't get to see certain series which air on pay-to-view or subscriber channels until a lot later. By chance I stumbled upon an episode of Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Good grief. I don't think I shall ever be able to watch John Hannah in anything else without thinking of a certain bath scene. They must have paid him a lot. Lucy Lawless as Xena: Warrior Princess is but a distant memory. I am guessing the auditions for most of the male characters did not spend too long worrying about traditional acting characteristics.
I shall keep a look out for another episode merely to see how closely the makers followed the scanty historical evidence of the Spartacus rebellion. Nothing to do with the porn, of course.
I was saddened to read of the tragically early death of the leading actor.
