Big rant about the new edition of Predator over at The Digital Bits. The dreaded DNR has been applied big time in order to get rid of grain. Interesting reading; sounds like one to avoid.

I just want the movie to look like it's supposed to. If it's a film, it is going to have grain. I would agree with Hunt that some studios have taken "the look of perfect" to a level where it ends up looking like a different movie and that is just not good.

Basically they have stripped film grain and detail away and now the images look as if everything were wrapped in plastic. Predator was always kind of a dirty, sweaty looking movie and now it doesn't look that way at all.
