Beware of the new Predator Blu-ray

Big rant about the new edition of Predator over at The Digital Bits. The dreaded DNR has been applied big time in order to get rid of grain. Interesting reading; sounds like one to avoid.

I thought the screen shot looked pretty awesome... *sigh*

Once again, the Greek Chorus that is The Digital Bits has to open their yaps and spew hate. Too grainy! Not grainy enough!!!

I just want the movie to look like it's supposed to. If it's a film, it is going to have grain. I would agree with Hunt that some studios have taken "the look of perfect" to a level where it ends up looking like a different movie and that is just not good.

I wasn't convinced of its awfulness until I saw this one: http://i49.tinypic.com/21llbbs.jpg

Basically they have stripped film grain and detail away and now the images look as if everything were wrapped in plastic. Predator was always kind of a dirty, sweaty looking movie and now it doesn't look that way at all.

Now, are we absolutely sure that Arnold Schwarzenegger was born with pores in his skin?

Schwarzenegger wasn't born. He was fabricated by an evil computer. In the future. And then sent back in time to make awesome action movies, bang skeletal Kennedies, and become governor of California. It's all part of an elaborate plan to destroy humanity, and it's going off without a hitch.
