Post your orders and such.

And hey, there's a new wrinkle...

Nov. 3, 2008— Infinity Resources, Inc., parent company of Critics´ Choice Video, DeepDiscount.com, DVDPlanet and Video Collection, today announced a pre-Thanksgiving holiday DVD & Blu-Ray disc sales promotion, Nov. 7-23.

That's 25 percent off their already low prices.

The Budd Boetticher Collection from Sony and the Gregory Peck box set from Universal. So the DDD sale has started already or does it start Friday?

but keep an eye open on Thursday night because the sale started early the last couple of times. If you wait too long before placing your order, you risk having your items be OOS, meaning you will wait a long-ass time before they arrive.

Could I preorder the Criterion Bottle Rocket and get the discount, even though it's not released until 11/25?

Sometimes they, DVD Planet anyway, won't include preorders in their sale.

Both sales are live and it appears that DVD Planet is discounting pre-orders as well.

Anyone know if you can only use the code once or is it good on multiple orders from the same company?

I am running out of must owns I don't already have and I am resisting fairly well the urge to replace all possible s-dvds with BRs.

I saw on DVD Price Search, the code 'PRICESEARCH' is good for a single use at DeepDiscount - just like previous sales. I received a phone call with my code - 'sale'. Does anyone have any other codes?

Second Order:
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. - Complete Series
Hellboy II -2-Disc
Honey West - Complete Series
and, The Nightmare Before Christmas - new 2-Disc

I think I'm going to have my Dad get me the complete series of Get Smart for Christmas. He never knows what to get me so that'll work.

I was able to pre-order the Criterion Bottle Rocket, and I also got the Monty Python's Flying Circus 16-ton Set. The latter one is kind of a risky purchase, b/c I've only seen a little bit of the show, but I have both Holy Grail and Life of Brian and those are hilarious. Also, the set was less than $50 (with the discount) so I figured that was an offer I couldn't pass up.

You should like the show then. That's about the same Python experience I had when I bought the set, and I liked it fine.

Of course when I got it, all of the DVD cases were full sizes, so its about the biggest set that I own and it sticks out of the shelf. Oh and it was $150 :(
+1. this is very interesting.

Yes, I agree that you should enjoy this set as well. I'm glad you posted this because I forgot about it. I never did splurge on the former box set, and this one with all the added extras for what came to 41.17 after the 25% off was just too great to pass up on.
So that's it. My final order. And Dad will be giving me the Get Smart gift set and also the "Tropic Thunder" 2-Disc dvd for Christmas. Yeah!

I stuck to my normal noir and old Japanese niches:
SUNSET BOULEVARD
MOONTIDE
ROAD HOUSE
HIGH & LOW (should be a worthy double dip)
AUTUMN AFTERNOON
KENJI MIZOGUCHI'S FALLEN WOMEN

I also purchased my first physical CD in quite a while - Mondo Primo's (formerly Feable Wiener) 2Fn Hot. Why?
1. It's not available on eMusic
2. The cover and liner notes are in 3D
They have always done fun packaging. The original package on their first release was made like a Trapper Keeper from the 80s, complete with velcro closure and hand-drawn doodles and lyrics. And an EP with the disc inside an old 5.25 floppy drive.

I got this as well, but I regret it now, to a degree. Interesting packaging, it's lovely, but one has to work very carfully with it, but the worst thing of all, the discs! Oh deary, in this day and age they still manage to produce faulty disks, especially for a special collection like this, where's the quality control? I've removed all the discs and placed them in those sleeves for now, because they will surely get buggered/scuffed more, but so far, disc 1 isn't recognised by the player, it does on the PC, made a copy in the meantime, discs 2 & 3 are fine, disc 4 is noisy as a chopper, but plays, and I'm still working my way through the rest of the set. A person spends a small fortune on a nice set like this, and the letdown by this spoils the overall enjoyment, pity.

Of course the transfers are very good...the special features are minimal, and still good enough for Hitch fans.

My order just arrived and, much to my dismay, the one title I was really excited to receive was not only loose and heavily scratched, but not shrinkwrapped, which seems a little fishy. Anyway, time to start the lengthy exchange process. Argh.
