Universal Soldier Regeneration (Blu Ray) - I promised to review this on the blog, and had planned to just rent it. However, the local renatal shop didn't have it, and I'll be damned if I'll ever rent from Blockbuster.

TCM did run it in 1.85:1 last year and it looked damn good. So a widescreen master does exist. I remember in one of their on-line chats Warners mentioned a Deluxe Edition was in the works with a Robert Redford commentary but like the promised 25th Anniversary Special Edition of Arthur, it has yet to surface in any official announcements.

Aliens Vs. Predator - PS3 - Good lord it is awesome! Played the first 3.5 hours of the human campaign last night, fought my first predator - and it was one of those defining "HOLY POOP!" gaming moments! This game is, thus far, the best surprise of 2010.

It's official....Blu-ray here I come. For the TV I bought the Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-P42S1 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV and for the Blu-ray player I went with the Sony PS3 120GB. At $710.00, the plasma unit was too good to pass up.

^^^ Make sure you get an HDMI cable (from monoprice or an online retailer) and, if you pay more than $5-10 for one, you got ripped-off big time. I've gotten lots of HDMI cables for less than $4 (monoprice) as gifts for the people in my life I've introduced high-def to and they've yet to fail.

Bought "Amelia" on DVD as a gift for my boss (an aviation nut).

Good on ya Harold, I've had my Panasonic G10 plasma for the last six months and am head-over-heels in love. That doesn't please my fiancee much, but then, she never actually lets me watch any of my DVDs or Blus on there anyway, so I guess we're even.

Either way, congrats.

Criterion have been absolutely on fire lately, so got Lola Montes on Blu-Ray and the just-released Make Way For Tomorrow on SD. There's been some incredible discussion about the latter in particular around the Web in the last week or so, so very much looking forward to finally seeing the film.

Also scored the Black Narcissus Blu from Amazon.uk, after learning that it'll play in Region 1 machines. Hi-def Powell & Pressburger, here I come...

Risen (Xbox360) - North American version - now the 4th time i've bought this accursed game!(burned by non-playable UK version, Asian region free version, and PC version before now - my love of open world role-players knows no bounds.)

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (PS3) - I doubt the multiplayer will be online a week before launch, but I'm really looking forward to the single player campaign - the first game was and still is a personal favorite.
