Sony DSC-W330 14.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Zoom with Digital Steady Shot Image Stabilization and 3.0 inch LCD (Silver)

Alf finally picked up a new digital camera. He goes to every Winnipeg Blue Bombers practices and always wonders why he hasn't bought a camera yet and he's always mad he can never take pictures. He's happy he can take pictures whenever he wants now. He has his CFL gloves on (his had them on all year) and he's ready to watch the 2010 CFL draft today and then he's ready for training camp and he told me he's going to be a starter this year!

Started the month with a big one:

Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series on Blu-ray. Really looking forward to going back to this amazing show.

and for shits and giggles:

Dune on Blu-ray.

I could have sworn the Dune mini-series was available on blu as well, but i can find no evidence of it, i must have been mistaken.

The Killer (Blu-ray) - I know it's a crappy transfer but (a) I only saw the movie once in the early 90's (loved it) and (b) never saw, bought or rented the flick again on VHS/DVD since. Might as well. ;-)

I just got the BD the other night from Netflix. It's positively awful. The transfer wouldn't even be acceptable if it was a DVD. And the audio, oy!: vanilla Dolby stereo for the original Chinese, and a 5.1 mix (again, not lossless) for the wretched English dub.

Also grabbed Dune on Blu-ray. Aside from Alicia Witt, no part of this movie has aged well.

^^^ Giggles!

Stumbled upon a new Cocteau's Orphic Trilogy Box Set at a Criterion sale in NYC's J&R Music World store. This is the crown jewel of the recently OOP Criterion titles taken away by Studio Canal; cost me a pretty penny ($65+ with taxes) but both its historical worth and tremendous resale value made it a 'hell yeah!' instant buy. :)

This is what i have acquired these last couple of weeks

Rafter Romance (1933) tcm vault
I'll Never forget What's Is Name (1967) Oliver Reed and all his glory

and some trashier fare...

Cry of the Werewolf (1945) a not too bad burn from an online source. but i HAD to have it.
Midnight Movies:Return of Dracula (1958) / The Vampire (1957) Return of Dracula isn't half bad for a cheapo quickie.
Missile to the Moon (1959) which is remarkably not as trashy as I had expected it to be...Vasquez rocks with foam 'rock' people and of course moon women in campy costumes.
Mesa of Lost Women (1952) more women in campy costumes...with giant furry spiders!
Mad Monster (1942) retromedia version

today I ordered some Warner Home Video stuff that has newly slipped out of print:
Dubarry was a Lady, Annie Oakley (1935), Lady Killer (1933)), Higher and Higher (1944)

Something tells me that WHV is discontinuing all the minor titles and will eventually shift them to Print On Demand at the higher price.

Iron Man (Blu-Ray)
Michael Clayton
Sunshine
Pandorum
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
National Treasure 2 (it was a $1)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2-Disc Edition) [another $1 purchase; I had the single disc already, so I tossed the damaged disc one (disc two was flawless) from this set and threw in my copy]

In the *finally* department:

A Clockwork Orange - 2 disc. I haven't seen this movie since the mid 90's, should be interesting to revisit.

Romancing the Stone on Blu
Jewel of the Nile on Blu
3D Dot Game Heroes for PS3

Romancing the Stone is still a bit of fun, though entirely saved by its two leads. Jewel of the Nile, is not quite so fortunate.

Lost Planet 2 (360) - Really diggin it so far.
3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3) - Throwback to A Link to the Past, and hilariously well written.
Alan Wake - limited Collector's Edition - Damn nice package, can't wait to fire it into the xbox.

Brilliant! You should see it on Blu-Ray. Be sure to watch the Malcolm McDowel documentary.. That guy flippin' rocks..

as for me,

I scored the Blu-Ray UBER-DIP - Roger Corman's Rock And Roll High School to go with my Standard DVD that's autographed by the man himself! (Thanks again J.M.!)

Red Dead Redemption - PS3 - after two hours with this monster - VERY strong contender for game of the year. It's GTA 4 crossed with the open world madness of Oblivion or Fallout 3.

Takashi Miike Omnibus. I'm sure I won't like everything in here, but for $25 I think it's worth it for what is undoubtedly interesting viewing. The Black Society trilogy has always been on my radar, so I'm looking forward to seeing that at least.

The Devil Rides Out....talk about a movie that could stand for a remake. Plus Christopher Lee is the right age for his role.

I finally bought a Bluray drive, now I need to collect new discs. Rogers is closing by me and they had a 1+2 sale, yep buy 1 and get 2 free!

I picked up (from rather depleted choices), total spend $30!
Knowing
District 9
Terminator: Sarah Connor Chron: S1
Animatrix
Crank 2

Then did the Walmart thing and got Dirty Harry for $10, Stargate for $7.50 and Equilibrium for $9.83.

They're all not what I'd pick necessarily but for the price I don't think that I did too bad.
