Question re: the McGann movie

Postby Kenneth Morgan » Sat Apr 30, 2011 9:31 am

A couple of days ago, I finally got a copy of the new R1 release of the Paul McGann "Doctor Who" movie. Oddly, though, the audio mix doesn't sound right; the pitch is too high. While the actors don't sound like Alvin, it's noticable compared to the copy I taped off of Sci-Fi channel a while back.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Could it be some kind of film-to-PAL-to-NTSC conversion process that maintained the PAL speedup?

I suppose that's a possibility; the extras don't seem to have the pitch problem. If that's the case, I'm a bit surprised that the BBC would let that slip by, particularly since I haven't noticed this problem in other "Doctor Who" releases. I might just write the company and ask about this. If all else fails, I may just keep this one for the extras and, when I just want to watch the movie, use my own copy.

Anyone else?

I have the R2 and it sounded fine to me.

I can't say I noticed any problem with the audio. Now the story on the other hand...
