online freebie thread

i do a lot of surfing for my blog and sometimes i find stuff that is too cool

FAXING - a while back i found out about free faxing services - RECEIVE faxes for free using efax.com and SEND faxes for free using faxzero.com
[personally i use myfax.com which is pretty cheap but it's cheaper then buying a landline]

PHONING - today i found Privatephone.com which gives you a free phone number with voicemail allowing you to use the sound file and embed it in blogs and such.

STORAGE - there are a ton of free online storage places,

Dropboks.com is easy and has a sweet interface, you can add folders and also keep different file versions with the same name.

Senduit.com allows you to upload a file online and receive a custom URL to download the file from Senduit's servers. This address can be shared by the user freely and can be used to download the file a reasonable number of times. The address expires in an amount of time designated by the user (between 30 minutes and 1 week)

Yousendit.com works similarly, you upload the file you want to email (up to 1GB ) and an email is sent to the recipient with the address to download the file .
the file can be downloaded up to 100 times in a week.

online freebie downloads

Postby ccb » Sat Oct 27, 2007 1:21 pm

How about freebie downloads then?

  • Firefox - spreadfirefox.com
  • Irfanview - irfanview.com - light graphics program
  • Blender - blender.org - heavy graphics program
  • GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) - gimp.org - graphics
  • OpenOffice - openoffice.org - using this now more than Word.
  • ConTEXT - context.cx - text editor. Notepad on steroids
Would welcome additions/ suggestions of better freeware downloads.

agree open source is the BEST thing since sliced bread.

Firefox, Thunderbird, Seamonkey, Gimp, GNU, Filezilla
are all fantastic
and OpenOffice is just the balls.

I haven't tried Context but i will.
I use Editpadpro but it's shareware, but i love it.

http://filezilla-project.org/ <-- this is the best FTP program ever

also FONTTHING - is an amazing freeware Font manager

i couldn't live without these things
