It's surreal to watch on "Price" back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back (times 12) orgies of people going batshit over luggage and exercise equipment they'll never use, but "Price" remains the quintessential gameshow where lucky contestants go to have fun (which translates into fun for the viewer when a contestant you like becomes your surrogate) and win big. Fun is an element missing from most of today's reality/gameshows, and with Drew doing a surprisingly "aww shucks" good job hosting (he's clearly biting his tongue because a lot of "Price Is Right" is custom-made for ridicule) the show's as good as it was during the Barker years. I miss Bob (and so do the many contestants that call Carey 'Bob' accidentally on-camera) but Drew's A-OK. "Atlantis" continues to see-saw between boring and incoherent depending on the episode/character that's focused on, and I'm not crazy about Teela's pregnancy driving the storyline (too much like "X-Files"). I'm glad that I can watch them in bunches of 3-4 episodes at a time because some episodes are so bad (like the one where three characters are trapped in a mineshaft for the entire hour) only watching a better episode afterwards can keep you from giving up on the show. The episode "Midway" from a few weeks ago was a freaking blast though! Not only did we get to see Stargate command again (last seen when "SG-1" went off the air) and got to see Chris Judge back as Te'lc back in action, but it was clear the SFX budget and humor quotas were above-average. The shot of Te'lc and Ronan standing emotionless while watching a Three Stooges short alone was worth the two or three bad/mediocre episodes that preceded it.
