That guy who is in everything!

Postby Boba Fett » Wed Jul 18, 2007 11:20 pm

What are some of your favorite bit players who seem to show up in everything?

Al Leong, who I think is the King of random apperances.
Bill Duke
Danny Trejo, although he, at least IMO, has become a pretty well known actor in the past few years.

I know there are a lot I'm missing, but many I can picture but can't put a name too.

Maggie Gyllenhaal - last year it seemed she was in every kind of movie: Sherrybaby, Monster House, World Trade Center, Stranger than Fiction and Paris, je t'aime.

And her fiance, Peter Sarsgaard is that way too, although he was in a lot of movies during 2004 and 2005: Flightplan, Kinsey, The Dying Gaul, The Skeleton Key, Garden State and Jarhead.

Shane Rimmer turns up a lot, especially if you're a fan of the Gerry & Sylvia Anderson productions. He's also been in at least two Bond movies, played Luke's X-Wing tech in ANH, and was most recently, I believe, in "Batman Begins".

Some favorite "that guys":

* Brion James
* Tom Sizemore
* David Morse
* Tony Todd (really, I should just combine this and the preceding and say the entire supporting cast of The Rock)
* William Fichtner
* Bob Gunton
* Michael Ironside
* Keith David

and a damn fine actor he is, as well. Had anyone the brains to nominate him for an Oscar in The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain he'd have walked away with it.
One of the all time great "he's in everything" guys is Kurt Fuller. Check out his IMDB listings!

Yeah, he seems to be everywhere too. I think he gravitates more towards independent films (like Ghost World) than mainstream, but I really remember him in animated films: Monster House and Monsters, Inc., to be precise.

Who was that asian guy who seemed to play nameless villanous henchmen in every damn 80's action flick? Not a real good actor or anything, but I've seen a lot of movie heros kill him off.

Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?

Al Leong. Most famous as Endo - the "electric sponge" torture guy in Lethal Weapon - or the candy bar thief in Die Hard ;)

Christopher Walken is literally in everything. I think it's a clause in his contract, that as long as movies are made, he will be in every single one of them, in perpetuity. Forever.

His star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame says "The Ubiquitous Christopher Walken", which pretty much says it all. He's already beaten the late Charles Lane for number of screen appearances, and he's still got like 40 years to go before he's as old as Charles Lane was when he died, so get used to seeing him because you'll be seeing him a lot more than you have already. And it still won't be enough.
When I was a boy there was no such word as fail, but now I am a man.
