Wii

I finally got around to getting my Wii on the 'net, so I thought I'd ask again what everyone's code/number is. I'm not sure which number to put up, so if someone would start the ball rolling, that would be appreciated.

Where did everyone acquire their Wii? Seems they are hard to find STILL - which amazes me this being July and not the big electronics time. I am hesitant to buy one online, but I don't feel like getting up early Sunday morning to fight with angry parents outside Toys R Us who have kids promised a Wii to last Christmas...

It's a amazing the most low tech console is generating the most heat.

What prompted me was my "bus buddy" had been itchy for one, and a local GameStop got in 8 on Friday. Not sure if you have them around you, but that's an option.

So, what else can I do online? Can I play against people or just chat with them and Mii Parade?

Aye, there's the rub. At the moment, online functionality is pretty much limited to gimmicky things like you mentioned above, and/or downloading Virtual Console/system updates for the Wii.

Nintendo's getting their act together and getting some online stuff cooking, but right now, there ain't much to be done.

Well, it's the only one 'next-gen' as far as input devices go ;)

I wasn't willing to fight people for it, but I went to Minneapolis for a wedding, and I happened to be there on a Sunday morning shopping, so I went to the Best Buy and they had like 30 or 40 lying there... So I just couldn't resist 8)

Here near LA they're nearly impossible to get unless you line up before the stores open AFAIK.

You'll love this. My buddy went to Blockbuster and Hollywood video to rent games. At Hollywood, they stated that the Wii was not a next-gen console and was obsolete.

Here in Houston they are next to impossible to find. Not that I look that hard, but ya' know. If I tripped over one in Target I'd snatch it. Until then I just imagine those Japanese men showing up outside my house and saying "Wii would like to play!". :(

That's truly hilarious.

I'll get my Wii number in here later today when I spark up Scarface.

All I know is, I live in Ontario, outside of Toronto. I had to buy my Wii from a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania because there were none to be had in my neck of the woods.

I'll post up my Wii code this evening. My Wii broke a few weeks ago--wouldn't turn on whatsoever, and I had it shipped back to Nintendo and replaced. Not sure if my code ended up changing or anything, so I'll have to double-check tonight.

My Wii Code:
7137 9560 8396 9587

The one thing that's been nice as far as Wii supply is that they've been geographically proportionate. Which means that the local WallyWorld gets 4-10 units out here every week. Which means that i've got to buy about 8 or 9 at this point to supply all of my friends who can't get them.
Went by there yesterday to confirm the price drop on the PS3 (now at $549.99) and while they PS3's and Xbox 360's in stock, guess what they still can't keep on the shelf 8 months after launch.

They are impossible to get here since (on this side) only Wal Mart and Game Stop carry them. :( I'm working on the Mrs. regarding a PS3 since the recent price drop and 5 movie rebate are looking sweet. Plus the fact that the new 80 GB model is going to lose some (or all) of the backwards compatability this seems to be "THE TIME" to get one. Now wish me luck on those reasons working sucessfully with the wife.

Just download the Opera internet channel from WiiWare. It used to be free, now I think it's $5. The Everybody Votes Channel, Weather channel and news channel are in there as well I think. Or they may be included in an update. I don't remember.

Huh, don't remember seeing that option. Will have to look around more. I have all the other channels you've mentioned.
