I know there are some Joss Whedon fans on the board, so I thought I would post this in case anyone didn't know about it.

Act one of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog has been posted. The other two acts will be posted on the 17th and 19th. They are free to watch through the 20th. After that you have to purchase it from iTunes or buy the forthcoming DVD.

**Not really spoilers, but don't read if you want to watch it knowing nothing in advance**
Dr Horrible is an inept villain who wants to rule the world, but his main concern is finishing his freeze ray to stop time so he can come up with the right words to say to the girl he likes. Neil Patrick Harris is Dr. Horrible. and Firefly's Nathan Fillion is Captain Hammer.

Wow, that was significantly betterthan the name led me to believe--"Dr Horrible"? The score shows that Once More With Feeling was no fluke, and that Joss Whedon should add Broadway composer to his already impressive resume. Of course, hiring actors who can sing, as opposed to being stuck with the (apart from Giles and Tara) hapless Buffy cast , definitely helped.

Nathan Fillion can sing, act, and he knows how to rock a black t-shirt. He really needs to hire representation that can land him better roles than Fox dramas.

well yeah it was fun, in a bubble gummy popcorn kinda way
but seriously guys this is like a high school level musical (and i have never seen the actual show based on the label)
I mean it's not very inventive and kinda juvenile
that's not saying it's bad or i didn't like it, but this isn't ground breaking material.

Then honestly Joyce, the problem is with your expectations and not anything Whedon did. It felt like exactly what it is...a lark done with family & friends. It's light, breezey & funny. I mean really, what did you expect out of a internet mini-series done on the cheap while writer's were on strike?

So, worth getting on DVD? Funnily enough, my mother and I have been going through the Buffy and Angel DVD sets, and we watched Once More With Feeling yesterday. Emma Caulfield is the worst of the lot, but Marsters and Head balance out the karmic scale. It's very telling that I find Something to Sing About enjoyable even with Gellar's flat voice.

Hell, for Neil Patrick Harris alone I'm getting the DVD. Sexy.

The news from ComicCon is that there will be more Dr. Horrible. No info other than that.

For the DVD they will be taking reality TV style audition tapes to join the Evil League of Evil. The top 10 submissions will go on the DVD. An entertaining idea.

Why anyone would want the soundtrack I'm not sure? But it will be made available also. I can't see enjoying the songs separate from the video.

Oh, the songs away from the show would be terrible. I wasn't a big fan of the actual songs from "Once More With Feeling", although the episode itself is really enjoyable. And I feel the same way about Dr. Horrible. I heard rumblings that there was going to be a proper feature made from this idea. Hmmm!

Yet they did bring in the "cursed" Nathan Fillian, so I expect all plans to be canceled rather quickly...
