I can do it, it's actually pretty simple. If your cassette player has RCA jacks, (white and red) simply buy a Y joiner at Radio Shack for about 10 bucks, and plug it into your computers mic jack, then use any one of a hundred different freeware recording programs to capture it, and convert it to MP3 then burn your disc. You won't get perfect tru stereo, but it'll sound fine.

Molly -- you can also buy (cheaply) converter cables that will take a headphone jack and turn it into left and right RCA jacks, so there is definitely a solution for whatever cassette player you have!

Too funny. I'm in the exact same boat, except that I do have a cassette player. I am trying to copy my old high school choir tapes, 25 years old, onto a CD and/or computer file.

I am going to try and take this advice (if I can figure it out) and give it a shot this weekend. If it works, Molly, I'm absolutely happy to help you out and do it for you, if you trust me with your cassette (and you can, I'm like a boyscout, only I'm a girl).
... later that evening, and with the window shades drawn, Mary had a baked potato, two helpings of string beans, and a little lamb.

Sonic Foundry acid-pro is your friend. Basically a home recording, mixing, mastering software package.
