As may have been read in the review for Waterworld: Extended version, This DVD contains not the theatrical version extended but instead it is the broadcast television version complete with content based edits. Universal did not make this apparent by printing a disclaimer on the box but there is one on screen before the extended version begins. Don't buy this unless you want a neutered, sanitized extended version.

Confirmed, though i suspected that when the disc was first announced. Not really an issue for me, as one uterance of "shit" and a second of skin, which is still implied in the boradcast version, is no biggie for me.

It's not like Waterworld was an R-rated blood n sex a-thon anyway.

I do believe though there is still footage out there that would have elevated the film to an R.
