Wall-E - Blu-Ray, with Best Buy's Rubik's Cube

Tropic Thunder - Blu-Ray

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

The Happening
- I don't know why, I'm still a sucker for Shyalaman's movies. I liked Signs even though I hated the ending. I thought Lady in the Water and The Village were ok but still watchable, just not the turds everybody makes them out to be. I've heard nothing good whatsoever about The Happening, but it's not stopping me here.
+1. this is very interesting.

From amazon.uk, Johnnie To's latest courtesy of the Masters of Cinema, Mad Detective and series four of Doctor Who. From closer to home, Wall*E, Tropic Thunder and Gonzo.

I though Paul Giamatti was great in Lady in The Water, even if the movie itself was kind of weak.

Anyway:
Silence of The Lambs: 2-Disc editon
Hannibal: SE
Red Dragon
Titus.

Anyone sensing a trend?

How did I forget to list:

Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series - I think there was an error, because it was tagged at the odd price of $37.84, but still rung up as the usual $69.99. I got the reduced price, so it justified me getting sushi for lunch

Finally took advantage of the Deep Discount sale, and bought five Blu-ray discs...

Wall-E
Iron Man
Mirrormask
Sleeping Beauty
Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Everything is out of stock, of course, so I'll have to wait a while... but all of that was bought for less than $100, so the wait is definitely worth it.

I like Giamatti, but I'll admit I found his performance in John Adams atrocious. Everyone else pretty much kicked ass, though.

Personally i chalked that up to complete and utter miscasting...

i expect to be saying the same thing about Nicholas Cage in Season of the Witch - some actors don't translate well.

But the accent -- I couldn't figure out what the hell he was trying to do. Did he not noticed that the rest of the cast wasn't doing funny voices as though they were in an SNL skit about the zany antics of our second president? If he'd just spoken in a normal voice, he'd have been fine.

(original; finally got the SE to replace the void from selling the original non-anamorphic release)
Wolf Creek: Unrated
From Russia With Love
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure/Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
(great double disc set at Target for $5.50; separate discs too, no flippers).

i stood and debated for a long time...i seriously wanted WALL•E 3 Disc...i still want it, but i couldn't justify playing double the price for a few featurettes.

I went through the same dilemma but went with the single-disc, which was half the price of the 3-disc at Best Buy. Also found the Warner Bros. Scorsese set at the local grocery store for 17.95. I already own the Goodfellas SE, but I've wanted to pick up Mean Streets and especially After Hours for a long time, and this was a cheap way to do it.

No movies again this week. Did pick up some music, all of the akka dakka variety:

AC/DC remasters:
- Back in Black
- The Razor's Edge
- Highway to Hell
- Powerage
- High Voltage

And because it was there,

AC/DC - Black Ice

On a bit of a kick, you might say. I hadn't taken my old discs out a whole lot as the sound quality was utter garbage. Not so with the remasters - these discs sound amazing. Even oldies like High Voltage and Powerage sound like they were recorded yesterday. And Rock n Roll doesn't get much more fun than AC/DC.
