If anything could be said about this movie is that Judge Franck was almost too generous with this review. I'm a huge disaster movie buff (even the bad ones can be cheesy fun), but this movie barely even touched on the films they were supposedly spoofing. If twenty minutes of your ninety minute movie have gone by and you haven't actually touched on one single disaster reference, well I call bullshit on that, you're not a disaster spoof. We got mostly a Cloverfield framework, and even that isn't technically in the disaster genre, and then a bunch of nods to every "popular" film that came out in the last six months. Disaster wise we got some lame meteorites, a a twister, some minor ground shaking, and a frost storm (at least I think it was suppose to be a frost storm but the effects are so cheap it's hard to tell.

Disaster films require a rather sizable budget and the makers of these parodies obviously know that they aren't going to recoup the kind of numbers it would be required to turn a profit, so instead we get third to fourth tier actors romping through one sad gag after another with the hopes of great DVD rental sales. As an employee of a rental store I'll be doing my best to prevent our customers from renting this piece of crap.

I haven't seen it, but I could have told you it wouldn't work. A spoof requires that its audience be intimately familiar with the subject matter being parodied. Disaster movies just don't have a broad enough appeal -- you'll get only a few people that understand the in jokes. Spaceballs and Robin Hood: Men in Tights are examples of spoofs that aim for a much larger audience than Disaster Movie does.

I'd say disaster films have a very broad appeal, if you go classic you've got Earthquake, The Poseidon Adventure, and The Towering Inferno to the more recent Armageddon, Twister, Volcano, and The Day After Tomorrow, all of those would prevent excellent source material for a good parody. Just look at Airplane which only parodied the Airport movies, and it is still one of the best parody movies out there.
