I usually don't get all that excited about technology, but that is really, really awesome.

I once threatened to do this at Futureshop. And they relented and offered me the sale price. To go one better, i told them i'd use one of the many computers spread about the store to do it.

This is something that pisses me off to no end. If your Corporate presence online is offering a price, then your store is as well - no ifs, ands, or buts.

I know the person who posted this patting themselves on the back but to me it's only common sense. They saw the ad online and didn't order it to a- lock in the sale price and b- guarantee availability. I don't go into a Circuit City, Best Buy, Sears, or depending on the item Wal-Mart even without first checking inventory and pricing online. It's a waste of time not to.

As for online versus store pricing, that's a pickle. There is less overhead online so they CAN offer it cheaper than a store can afford to, yet they charge you shipping so it comes out to the same total price. Stores need to find a way to around that. I like stores like Deepdiscount that include standard shipping in the price, but other stores want to wow you in with a super low price to make up for it in shipping and handling (Amazon used to do this but has adjusted a bit).

I know where I work we will price match online stores, including amazon, but with the shipping price included in our price match. It's the only way to do it fairly since some stores have added extra "handling" charges to make their prices seem even better before the cart.

my attitude is what the hell are these stores thinking?
no wonder sales are down, no wonder they go bankrupt
they treat us like shit.
if they offered these prices IN the stores
We'd BUY THEM IN THE STORES

it's all bait and trip and they should all be ashamed.
if i buy something new i buy it from Bull Moose (a small Maine based chain), regardless of the price elsewhere
they can offer it to me at a reasonable discounted price.
but i certainly am not going to go chasing things down elsewhere it's much to aggravating
besides i can trade stuff in and earn points toward a half price item
and best of all they let me have a pile behind the counter.

hooray for the non-big boxes.
