Street Fighter - DVD and Blu-ray

Postby Steve T Power » Thu Feb 12, 2009 6:07 am

Guys, good reviews.

I saw this crapola on the day of release, TWICE. (yes, we were in high school, and yes, THC was involved.). We walked in, walked out - bitched enough about how shitty the flick was we were given free passes, so 20 minutes later we walked right back in and watched it again.

Now, i kind of have a soft spot for it. As horrible as everything is. I recall the story that it was actually a rewrite of DeSouza's screenplay for Warner's aborted GI Joe film from a few years earlier. Until this year it was about as close to "A Real American Hero: The Movie" as one could get.

Here's hoping Sommer's GI Joe doesn't turn out as bad.
As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states:"Don't start none... won't be none...".

I too saw this on its release day with a couple of friends. Man, I may have only been about 15 at the time, but I still knew a turkey when I saw one. The odd thing is, when the chance to review the DVD came up, I was eager to give the film another viewing, having not seen it since it came out on VHS.

I've never understood why the film had so little in common with the game, but it being a re-write of the aborted GI Joe movie would explain a lot.

Still, Sommer's GI Joe is looking cool. Shame the same can't be said for the new Street Fighter movie, the new trailer seems to show the same mistakes being made again...

Dammit Dave! Between this and last week's Friday Filibuster you made want to see the wretched thing again and laugh like a loon.

I just watched the trailer. No. It's not.

Why is it that Michael Clarke Duncan can't exert himself without looking like someone just stole his favorite doll?
