Akira Kurosawa's Ran: Criterion Collection OOP 2-disc DVD. Kept putting off buying this for years, then waited patiently for the Blu-ray and then Criterion lost the rights to the IP. I basically "ran" out of excuses :x for not buying it, so I "ran" to the store :x and did just that.

I did something I have not done in quite some time and went a little crazy yesterday. Purchased Danton, Simon of the Desert, Il Generale Della Rovere, all from Criterion, Slumdog Millionaire, The Fall, Tell No One and Leonard Cohen: Live in London.

Bought The Wrestler at Wal Mart yesterday.

This has actually been a rather lean month for new purchases, but my birthday is next month, so I should likely be getting a whole bunch of crap I don't technically need.

Some jerk dumped a bunch of Bergman at the local bookstore and I was compelled to buy.

Cries and Whispers
Winter Light
Through a Glass Darkly
The Passion of Anna

Left behind were some I already had (Seventh Seal, Smiles of a Summer Night, Wild Strawberries, The Virgin Spring, Hour of the Wolf, Shame), some I couldn't afford (Silence, The Early Bergman Eclipse series), one I didn't want (Serpent's Egg) and Persona, which I would like to have, but the transfer is severely cropped on the R1.

Then I bought Spawn to bring the universe back into balance.

I went back and got Persona, after reviewing the DVDBeaver shots and seeing that the cropping isn't nearly as bad as I had remembered.
