New Podcast - Mildly Mediocre Movies

Postby cdouglas » Tue May 05, 2009 3:20 am

The latest podcast is up, featuring music from "mildly mediocre movies". Pieces are included from:

U.S. Marshalls
The Da Vinci Code
Presumed Innocent
Valley of the Kings
Vatel
Stripes
Daredevil
Erin Brockovich
Bicentennial Man
Hart's War
The Specialist
The Pick-Up Artist
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Obviously this is an entirely subjective playlist determined only by the tastes of yours truly. What do you think? Do these films qualify as "mildly mediocre", or do you take exception to anything on the list? One way or the other, here's hoping you enjoy the music!

I'd strike STRIPES from that list. It's classic Murray, Ramis, Candy, and Reitman... and it holds up.

The first time I saw Stripes, I enjoyed it a great deal. I went back and watched it again a few years later, and I was surprised by how wearisome I found the whole thing. Murray, Ramis, and Candy are all in fine form, but I think the screenplay suffers from an overabundance of '80s comedy cliches. Of course, this is coming from someone who loves The Three Amigos!, so, y'know, potaytoes, potahtoes. :)

I remember Presumed Innocent as being very good - but it's been a while. I agree with you about Stripes though.

I thought Ford was great (particularly during the climactic scene in which the truth is revealed to him), but I had read the book beforehand and found the film somewhat lacking in comparison. Not that the book was one of the great literary achievements of recent years, but still...
