my first blu ray

I've had a ps3 for a while and now a Samsung 1500 so I figured it was time for a blu ray movie. After long consideration I decided that Live and Let Die would be it. I also rented Valkyrie.

What was your first and or best blu ray?

First: Casino Royale

Best: Dunno, Iron Man or the Bourne Collection..?

My first was Blade Runner. I found it at a price I couldn't resist -- well before I had a player.

First: Kingdom of Heaven: Director's cut - I wasn't going to even bother with blu-rays, thinking upscaling would be fine. But of course i had to try one. Damn it.

Best: Blade Runner - no contest.

When I ordered the PS3, I also ordered Blade Runner, Casino Royale, and Cars.

upscaling dvd does look good, until you see the detail in a really good blu ray. My brother was arguing with me about it. He bought an hd tv and put a 30 dollar wal mart dvd player on it. The tv somewhat upscales so it's ok. Then I showed him Planet Earth on blu ray where you can actually see individual hairs on the animals. He shut up about wasting money.

My first Bluray was Iron Man I had it even before purchasing a player. Didn't get the player for another month.

I guess I'm backwards. I bought a ps3 for games and dvd's and didn't get into blu ray until my crt blew up months later. With the new HD tv I just HAD to get a few blu rays.

Of note, though: My first DVD was Rocky and my first laserdisc was Superman : The Movie.

I think it was the remastered edition of The Fifth Element. I believe my first Laserdisc title was Lawrence of Arabia and my first DVD purchase was Mars Attacks. Wow! That hurt my head trying to remember that much.

My first buy was Baraka, and it's still the most technically impressive disc in my collection. I can't wait to get some more discs mastered from 70mm.

I just ordered my first Blu Rays with my first order from the Deep Discount sale.

First two titles are on backorder, so it looks like the Steelers titles will be the first in my hands.
I did pick up the 98.00 Magnavox Blu Ray player @ Walmart.
Haven't hooked it up yet but will do that later today.
Meant to order the Green Lantern DVD but forgot, will get it on the next order with some titles that are being released on Tuesday.

Good way to start off. When you watch it, you'll feel as if you can reach into the screen and touch it.

With the 720p monitor, I figured that the best possible looking disc to start with would be a good idea to get other family members on board

Your first blu ray needs to be along the lines of "Resident Evil 5", Uncharted Among Thieves" or some other awesome game.

I was thinking, you should get the 160 gig now. It's a hundred more but has a bigger hard drive and an awesome game.

While the 160 HD is nice, I don't think I would ever get the proper use out of it to make it worth the cash. Though Resident Evil 5 does look quite nice. May have to start hunting through the used game bins in a while.
