Any Ipod users here?

Postby Zanarkand » Wed Jun 24, 2009 6:58 pm

Anybody here have an Ipod? I myself have been into Ipods since I got my first one in 2005.
If you do have one, let us know the standard info: model, how often you use it, what you keep in it, etc.
My first Ipod was a 30GB model, I have since upgraded to a 160GB Classic.
I use it daily, and I have nearly 40GB of content so far. I have mostly rock & roll, (1980s-present)
Audiobooks and radio theater.

I have the 80 GB video model from a few years ago. I've never watched a single video on it, but I did put the 'boudoir' photos I took of my ex-wife on there, so I could show my friends now that we're separated.

I'm at about 40 GB right now. Mine is filled with a lot of obscure alternative and indie stuff, as well as a good-sized collection of the music documentary series "The Ongoing History Of New Music" by Alan Cross.

I use mine at work a lot, as I'm in heavy equipment for long stretches.

120 Gig Classic. I just got it this past Christmas.

A year prior we moved into a new apartment, and gained a commute of an hour each way every day. Soon after the move, I grew sick of everything on the radio. I got the iPod rigged into the car and I listen there.

I have over 200 CD's, so the 120 was the only way to go. It plays video but I don't have much use for that. It's mostly music. I still prefer to buy actual CD's than have them solely digital, but I'll buy one-hit wonders or from bands I don't think I'd like enough to buy their entire works.

I also listed to a few podcasts. Today was Blast Processing!
+1. this is very interesting.

I like Podcasts. I have SModcast from movie director Kevin Smith, the Planet of the Apes podcast, Twilight Zone Podcast, Gunsmoke podcast.
The best part about them: They are free!

Stick with my PSP as i despise iTunes with every fibre of my being.

My niece recently upgraded from the nano to a touch. It's nice and she has a few videos on it. They get their songs from CD sharing between schoolmates but they also use itunes. Personally I prefer my dirt cheap mp3 player. The money save was put to much better use. Don't get me wrong, her ipod is sweet, I'm just poor.

I have a 2nd gen 4gig nano. I use it every day 8) Most of the time a make a mix of albums (from AC/DC to Zappa passing through Metallica and Miles Davis - I have around 950 albums) and put it on shuffle, delete the songs I listened to and replace them. Sometimes I do feel like listening to albums. I actually watched Juno on it during a camping trip. I'm a big fan of the verdict's podcasts but the only one I don't listen to online is The Sounds And Sights Of Cinema

30 gig Classic. LOVE it. With the sadly no longer being made Traffic Jam FM transmitter I got incredible reception wherever I went through my car radio, and it's about half full of mostly music with a couple of classic 80's videos. I tried watching some TV eps that had been encoded, but it just didn't do it for me.

I too own the 30 GIG classic with video. LOVE MINE! I listen to it morning, noon, and night. In the car, at the gym. I even fall asleep listening to podcasts (do that with the Shuffle on). My car is hooked up to it any time I am in it. It sits by me at work ready to be turned on any second.

I subscribe to over 100 Podcasts including Smodcast, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Answer Bitch, I Love Movies, Adam Carolla, and of course all the DVD Verdict ones. I am a total addict.

I downloaded a program called Handbrake which allows me to transfer any DVD I own on to the iPod. I also have a laptop sized screen to hook it up to for plane flights.

You will never meet a more rabid iPod fanatic...

Yeah Ipods have a charm that can defy description. I describe it this way: If you have to ask, you would not understand. For example, somebody might ask you why your Ipod is with you 24/7.
Now, I understand why. But anybody actually having to ask that....would not understand, even if you explained it to them.

To me an Ipod /mp3 player / Zune is like a lot of modern gadgets. You break down and get one thinking you "hope you'll like it" and then start finding yourself using it a lot more than expected. I bought a laptop expecting to use it for school occasionally. School starts in August and I swear i've used this thing so much already I'll probably wear the keys off in a year.

I've got a 120 GB IPod classic that I got on eBay for my birthday, allowing me to take home the 50 or so CDs that had slowly migrated to work. I've got about 48GB full, mainly music (rock, jazz, classical, broadway). I've got some photos, and a couple of short movies, including a great on of my eight year-old daughter doing a one and a hald dive off the high board.

If I could just get Cover Flow to work properly, I'd be a very happy camper. Everything looks great in iTunes, but gets somewhat mangled in the synch process. And it defeats the purpose of having a ton of music in a handy, convenient player if you can't find a specific piece.
