Sent my PS3 off to camp today...sniff!

Okay, so it's not technically camp...more like a strange and nondescript warehouse-looking building where they supposedly keep the magical beings that fix PS3s when they get sick. So what happened? I blame Owen Wilson.

I was sitting all comfy-like on my couch happily viewing the extra features on a Blu-ray copy of Marley and Me for a review, when suddenly, the image and none of the controls would respond. I powered down the PS3, thinking foolishly that this would fix the problem, but my little Sony baby awoke to a complete lapse of memory for what to do with any spinning silver discs! A small consolation that this is not a totally uncommon problem, but still a bloody inconvenience.

A quick call to Sony, and a few days later, a prepaid shipping carton arrived at my door. So I'll be about $170 lighter, but should have a happy and fully-functional PS3 back in my house in under two weeks! Killzone 2, how I've missed you!

Same thing happened to me actually, a month into usage. But kudos to Sony's customer service. They had me back on my feet in no time.

Thanks for the virtual hug Dave!

I'll bet your repair was under warranty as well, right? Even better! Any problems since?

Very sorry to hear it. What model was your PS3?

My old 60 gig is still purring like a kitten. NThough i HAVE to upgrade the damn hard drive. I'm always running on less than 500mb of free space these days.

Happened to my nephews. It was under warranty and rather new also, less than 90 days infact. Gamestop wouldn't touch it (don't buy hardware there) but Sony took care of it.

If it wasn't warranty I would have tried to find blu ray parts myself. It has to be a drive issue of some sort. It loads the discs but doesn't spin them or read that one is present, right.

My PS3 occasionally forgets how to play Blu-rays. After numerous power-offs and whatnot, it eventually works. I cringe the day it doesn't work at all! I know I'm not under warranty anymore.

Nope. Thing runs like a dream. Though it's mainly a Blu-ray player these days, that is until Uncharted: Among Thieves lands and nukes my brain.

How do i download ps3 themes from my usb drive? Okay, I'm trying to download PS3 themes to myPS3 from a USB drive. Nw here is the problem, when I try to download the theme to the system, it tells me that there are no themes. I loaded my USB with themes for the PS3. You need to make sure that your memory stick is formatted correctly. There has to be a 'PS3' folder on the root of your drive, and within that folder there has to be a 'THEMES' folder if i recall correctly (it's just after 8AM and i haven't had my caffeine shot as yet.)
