Anyone know when the next sale at deepdiscount.com will start?
Should be soon, right?

The store went out of business last week, which means no sale instore, and also might mean no sale online.

Constantly being beaten by Best Buy, Target, and Walmarts prices proved they weren't the deepest discount and it may have ultimately been what closed the store. No business. Better and deeper discounts elsewhere.

Its a shame.

Indications are pointing to the sale happening in early- to mid-July this year.

Personally I'm amazed the store lasted as long as it did. When they first were bought out by a web conglomerate the store was on borrowed time. I'm not on the inside at all but is the death of the store really any relation to the site?

I know I hate it when facts get in the way but does anyone have any, you know, proof the store is closing? I did a Google search of deep discount dvd/ closing & out of business, all to find nothing. Like Mark noted, bearing anything unusual, I would anticipate the summer sale to follow the usual pattern.

Thanks for that link Mark. Guess we'll have to wait 'til July, but that gives more choices.
Hope it stays at 25% but 20% is good as well. I always check the sale price with other prices like Amazons and such and make my decisions then.

Ignorant me, I didn't even realize there was a brick-and-mortar location! How about that?

Fingers crossed the online store stays viable. It's a nice alternative.

Does anyone know if the DVDPlanet 20% sale going to coincide like it has the past several sales?

DVD Planet is having a 25% off sale as well. Use the code 25offsale. In the past it as good on pre-orders, but I am not sure about this time.

I want a bite of that $164 BSG as well, two questions for fellow canuckleheads who've taken advantage of DDD's 20% off in the past (Forbes! I'm lookin at you!)

1. Is the shipping still free?
2. Will we get nailed with duties?
3. Do they charge a percentage for the $$$ exchange?

I'd be looking at it at my door for less than $180, a far cry from the $250 most brick n mortars want for it.

I think shipping was still free, but I seem to remember getting a duty charge of about $6 on a box of five titles. Having said that, I just woke up from a pretty crappy sleep and don't really remember all that clearly. I do know that the price didn't spike dramatically when I ordered. Now if you'll excuse me, I coffee now.

1. Shipping to Canada was never free at DDD, it used to be a flat rate of about $6 but now the shipping rate is dependent upon your order total. I think that you would pay somewhere around $25 shipping for a $164 order.
2. Being charged duty has always seemed to a random process to me.
3. Not sure what you mean.

Also, I believe that the sale is for 25% not 20%. And DVD Planet is having the same sale (though their prices can be different) and they charge a flat rate of about $5 per shipment plus $0.75 per disc (so probably not cheaper for orders that involve box sets with lots of discs but perhaps for other orders).

Don't know about the shipping to Canada, but I can confirm the sale is for 25% off.
So far sent two orders.
First was:
Watchmen, Coraline, Steelers Superbowl XLIII, Steelers Road To XLIII
Received both Steelers DVDs today the other two are on backorder.
2nd order:
Pushing Daisies Season 2, Dollhouse Season 1, Torchwood: Children of Earth, Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead, Green Lantern: First Flight, The Middleman: Complete Series
All DVDs I ordered were Blu Ray except for The Middleman which I think was only released as standard.
Plus all titles in the second order were also on backorder.
But since none of them are limited editions, I should get them all eventually.
Last year I ordered the Batman The Animated Series Complete Limited Edition Box Set and it was on backorder.
They kept giving me dates when they would get it back in and by the time they sent me an e-mail that they weren't stocking it anymore it was out of the stores as well.
It still pops up on eBay, but I'm now hoping for a Blu Ray release of it.
Was tempted to, and still may, get the BSG Box Set but, we'll see.
Spent a lot the past few weeks.
