What are you buying

Postby mkiker2089 » Wed May 13, 2009 11:44 pm

We have a buy section in the other forum let's start one here.

So far I'm looking at

Ghostbusters - either for DS or PS3. I haven't decided yet. They are very different games so both would be nice.
Overlord Minions- DS Just sounds like a blast
Overlord 2 is a maybe, for PS3. The first was good and I'm tired of the massive onslaught of FPS. Give us some variety for God's sake.
Gran Turismo 5 - PS3 of course. I'm on the fence for this one so it may be a while before I pick it up. GT is the best of realistic racing but sometimes I want less realism and more fun.

Got Primal for the PS2, after hearing Jon in the Podcast described it as being criminally underrecognized.

Since the last time I posted I bought:

God Of War 2
XIII
Legacy Of Kain : Defiance
Shadow Of The Colossus
Soul Calibur III
Mega Man Anniversary Collection

And a crappy game called Seven Samurai 20XX

I borrowed Final Fantasy XII and We Love Katamari from my brother.

So far, since I'm mostly playing Okami, I've been playing Katamari and Mega Man.

I bought Turning Point. You can see my other thread about it. It got panned by the critics but I think it's good. It's easily worth the 9 and change I paid for it new.

Assuming Halo is the best and it gets a 100, I give Turning Point a 90 or high 80's. It doesn't aim as well but that could probably be adjusted. It isn't as detailed as Halo, as in no fine tuning. The graphics are good and the theme is cool.

I borrowed Need For Speed Undercover. In one minute with it I have enjoyed it more than an hour of Pro Street so in that respect the critics were right. Undercover pulls you in forcing to race right off the bat. Pro Street is buried in a clunky menu system. The end result is the racing though and on that Undercover feels better as well. It's not something I can put into words but it's open roads are better than Pro-Streets "tracks" and the game just feels better.

Maybe a moderator should add something to the title of this post? I didn't think about people doing the "view new topics" thing and getting the different forums confused.

I'm thinking about canceling Ghostbusters DS and waiting that one out. I've exceeded my budget. Any thoughts? I'm also considering scaling my DS back to the point of maybe selling it. The PS3 is THAT GOOD. I'm sure once the honeymoon is over and work picks up the DS will get more love again though. Especially if it gets another Castlevania.

Went to Gamestop and stumbled on something I'd been looking for a while: Ico. So I brought it to the counter to pay for it, and he said they didn't have the disc. Apparently they'd already sold the disc, but couldn't find the box at that time, leaving the empty box on the shelf. Sigh...the search continues.

This could work better if Gamestop would ever bother to alphabetize their used games.

I've had that happen also. How though? People bring the box, or the fake box in some cases, to the counter. How could they sell a disc without the box? Did the staff just say, hey let's browse the selection under the shelf for a while rather than let the customer look?

How do they not find the box? It's in the store, probably in the right section, go look for it.

Rant aside I bought Spyro Eternal Nights for the DS. I was on clearance at Sears also. For 4 bucks it'll be good I'm sure. Sears is starting to get more active in clearing out older titles before the value is completely lost. I'm amazed at how fast games drop in value actually. Are gamers that ADD?

I heard Terminator Salvation is 4 hours long, tops, and if you play through on hard the first time you get all 1000 AP.

Found Grand Theft Auto IV for $15, technically free with my gift card. Couldn't pass it up. I wasn't greatly interested, but keep hearing perfect reviews. The price is right.

I'm participating in this thread far too much.

Gamespot had a Buy 2 get 1 Free deal, so I did that twice:

PS3:
Fallout 3
Prince of Persia
Street Fighter IV
Blazing Angels

PS2:
Ace Combat 5
Killzone

The Legend of Dragoon has gotten stuck at a certain point and the disc repair kit hasn't made any headway. Hope I can find another copy.

Wow, Prototype sucks that much? I'm iffy about Staff of Kings since the 360 and PS3 versions were canned long ago.

I think i'm gonna snag the PS2 version. The game itself wasn't bad (about on par with The Emperor's Tomb for what that's worth), but the motion controls just had too much lag on the Wii.

Ghostbusters and inFAMOUS are still in the plastic for PS3, waiting while it's off to Sony repair-land. Fortunately, I was able to play the SNOT out of the inFAMOUS demo...insanely fun!

Also ITCHING to get playing Killzone 2 again...

Nintendo DS Lite system w/My English Coach DS game (sent it to Mom the day after I bought it; she's learning English and she loves it).
Point Blank DS (for me and my own DS Lite)

Almost bought "Dark Sector" and "Jon Woo Presents Stranglehold" for PS3 brand-new for $15 each. I didn't. 8)

Dark Sector can be snagged for 9.99.
It's worth at least 4 times that - awesome game!
Any more than 2.50 for Stranglehold is a rip.

I also grabbed the limited edition of BlazBlue, and it is the best thing i've seen from Arc System Works since the original Guilty Gear on PSOne!
