Les Lye 1924-2009

Postby Dark Knight » Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:53 pm

Les Lye whom I know from the classic series "You Can't Do That On Television" passed away.
Sure it was a kids show. Sure it started the whole slime thing.
But I liked it and thought he was great in it.

I grew up on YCDTOTV (and even remember its predecessor, "Whatever Turns you On"). Very sad news.
As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states:"Don't start none... won't be none...".

Wow... He was 84? I remember watching YCDTOT back in the the early 80s like it was yesterday. He was a big part of what made me realize that TV for kids could be both funny and subversive.
