The whole moving to Georgia thing has pretty much killed any purchases I might make, although there's a slim chance I'll damn the consequences and pick up Season Five/Part One (grrrr) of Rescue Me.

Everyone I spoken with who has seen [*rec] has basically said the same thing. I'm thinking of holding off until next month and watch it as part of the lead up to Halloween.

Watched it Monday night, watched Braveheart last night. Both were a-ok. Gladiator wasn't cutting edge, but it was certainly a jump from the DVD.

Been feeling noir-ish in a particularly Widmarkian way, so I picked up The Street with No Name and No Way Out and ordered Kiss of Death and The House on 92nd Street (as it precedes TSwNN).

No worries, truth be told, Mel's inherent craziness seeps a little too deeply into Braveheart for my liking. It was actually my first viewing since Christmas day 2000.

Indeed. I felt like laughing at how over the top some of the film is. Didn't help that my home town is named after Mr. Wallace, which resulted in tons of locals loving this film...

Agree totally with how good it looks. Seeing every over-the-top-but-perfect moment of Shatner's acting in high def is wonderful.

Actually, as great as series one is, it will be the third set I am llooking most forward to as it has THE CAGE. Love that one even with its flaws.

However, After a better-than-expected paycheque and a two for 16 used deal, I broke down and picked up the following:

TRANSPORTER 3 (Blu Ray) - looks great and a solid bit of action cinema, if not a good as the first.
THE SPIRIT (Blu Ray) - best bad movie of last year :D

Just got news that Kiss of Death and The House on 92nd Street shipped, as well as The Killers, which I added to the order on a whim. I remember a back-and-forth between Sax and Butcher about the merits of Siodmak's version way back. It's about time I saw it for myself.

Yeah...I'm sorry, but you wasted your money, Harold.

Major disappointment. How was it possible for everyone involved in this flick to miss the obvious? All they had to do was find a way to force Wolverine and Gambit into a rocky partnership against Sabretooth (and do so, you know, before the movie was basically over). Much ass-kicking would have ensued. Instead, we get old farmers, a romance that has more foreshadowing than chemistry, and a buttload of helicopter shots of Vancouver.

Need for Speed: Shift (PS3)
Halo 3: ODST (xbox360)

Pearl Jam - Backspacer - My god! Probably the best album i've heard in 10 years. Whatever people think of Pearl Jam these days, this is a masterwork of an album. it's lean, at a little over 30 minutes, but every song is flawlessly executed. There's some beautiful stuff here, emotionally stirring and powerful. Some of the best compositions i've ever heard from the band. This is an album that could appeal to just about anybody. These guys deserve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best acts of this or any age, Backspacer is all of their strengths, none of their weaknesses.

September's been crazy, so far. I haven't bought this much stuff in a long, long time.

Hot Fuzz (Blu-Ray)
Shaun of the Dead (Blu-Ray)
An American Werewolf in London (Blu-Ray)
Creepshow (Blu-Ray)

And then there's the Beatles remasters, which so far has amounted to:
The White Album
Abbey Road
Rubber Soul
Sgt. Pepper
Help!

And I'm sure there will be more before the Target sale is over.

I just ordered Star Trek The Original Series: Season Two [Blu-ray] from Amazon. The price has dropped to $60.00. Don't know if this is a temp deal or a permanent reduction. In either case it took me about 2 seconds to make up my mind and order it.
