"Law & Order CI" Massacre: Goren, Eames, Ross, Wheeler...

Postby J.M. Vargas » Fri Sep 25, 2009 6:40 am

... will be phased out of the show's ninth season in 2010 as USA Network turns "Criminal Intent" into the Jeff Goldblum show (with Saffron Burrows tagging along as partner): http://showbiz411.blogs.thr.com/law-order-criminal-intent-vincent-donofrio-erbe-bogosian-jeff-goldblum. The regulars won't just disappear though, the characters will be given exit shows and could return as guest stars.

Julianne Nicholson was leaving anyway to have another baby. Guess "CI" was too edgy and not enough like "Monk" and "Burn Notice" for USA suits, plus they'll save on the budget by removing expensive veterans like Kathy Erbe, Vincent D'Onofrio and Eric Bogosian. Oh well, the reruns of "CI" will live forever anyway but it still feels weird that there won't be Goren or Eames on "CI." :(

Eh. How many cast overhauls has the parent show gone through over the past 20 years? Nine years is a good run and in TV terms, probably too long a run. Change is not a bad thing.

By the looks of this Fridays ratings, the original L&O is pretty much done. As we know Fridays are death night to network TV, so if some of these shows are to survive they are going to have to be moved.
It couldn't even beat the reruns of the ABC shows. CW is killing Smallville although it could be that it has overstayed it's welcome. I haven't seen the last few seasons and It use to be a must see for me.
Jay Leno does his worst numbers to date but still beat L&O. And Dollhouse which I like and I know not everyone does, still deserves better. Friday at 9 after Brothers and next week Til Death is death.
But that's TV for you.
Here's the ratings:
2.3 20/20
2.2 Ghost Whisperer
2.0 Medium
1.7 Numbers
1.5 Dateline
1.5 The Jay Leno Show
1.5 Modern Family (r)
1.5 Cougar Town (r)
1.4 FlashForward (r)
1.3 Law & Order
1.0 Brothers
1.0 Dollhouse
1.0 Smallville

The difference in edginess between L&O: CI and Monk or Burn Notice is so miniscule it cannot be detected by the human senses. Those with particularly keen senses may be able tell that L&O: CI is slightly edgier than, say, Matlock, but your average man or woman can't.

Actress Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio replaces Eric Bogosian as Major Squad Captain: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/news/e3i422dde68f61e91f245b448122f894b5d?imw=Y. The show's transformation is complete! :-(

A very good movie that could motivate everyone of us. It's a coincidence on what happen to the lawyer on that movie when he confessed to a killing person without even knowing. It is a realistic movie sometimes that happens to a lawyer's life. Sometimes we must do our obligation on what our profession stands for. Everyone has the right to choose their lawyer to stand on their side, even to the prosecuted side. 8)

Well, tonight's the night (10PM ET/PT on USA Network); first episode of a two-parter 'transitional' arc. Goldblum went on "Jimmy Fallon" last night and pretty much spoiled what's going to happen (which I was able to predict by looking carefully at the promos) and damn, I'm stoked! :o
