It is so ridiculous when "they" do this especially given the promise of Blu-Ray's extra capacity. I'm going to quit falling into the barebones-to-SE cycle for favorite titles all over again. I'm sticking with my dvd.

It is MGM. We should expect nothing less.However, given that I have the old, OLD MGM disc, the Blu is an upgrade for me.

Yeah, there's nothing on it, unless you want to count the trailer on the included DVD (the same crappy flipper from back in the day). Having said that, the only extra I really miss is the deleted opening. I've listened to the commentary a couple of times and it's not my favorite Carpenter/Russell track. At this point, I'll take good presentation over extras. If it speeds up the release of catalog titles, all the better.

So, the Blu-ray/DVD combo has the old DVD in it? I mean, they could have at least tossed in Disc One of the SE, which has the commentary and maybe a couple of other extras.

And, yeah, I still don't have it. The truck bringing discs to Atlanta brick 'n' mortars must've been sidelined by the Duke of New York's posse. No one has it in this damned city.

That should read Nosferatu Kino edition-Which I believe is the longest, best looking version out there. At least as far as region 1 is concerned.

Does it have more footage? I know, compared to my Image edition, we are talking a substantial increase on the Kino. Somewhere in the area of 93-94 minutes compared to about 81 for the Image.

Blows it away? That's a bit hyperbolic.

They come from the same source and have the same amount of footage. The MoC has less combing and fewer compression artifacts and very slightly more information in the frame. However, it's also very soft. The Kino is noticeably sharper. The MoC has a commentary, so it edges out on the extras, but Kino offers two intertitle options.

I've heard nothing but horrible things about the way Friedkin has tinkered with the image, but I couldn't resist picking up The French Connection on Blu-ray for $7.50. Also snagged The Ghost Writer on Blu (great movie, but I hate that it's a flipper disc).

U2 360 at the Rose Bowl Blu Ray: A solid concert with great visuals & production design with the War of the Worlds-like Quad-Pod tent set up in the middle of the Bowl. Bono has a massive ego, but he can still deliver & have the crowd in the palm of his hand. However, it's a step down from the Go Home at Slane Castle or even the ZooTV shows. Maybe it's me, but I just don't care too much for U2's stuff past 2005.

Actually, I think there may be two versions out there. I don't know if it's just in Canada, but the version I see in stores is listed as just a BD on the packaging, not the BD/DVD combo. I suspect this version is not a flipper.

Canadian version is not a flipper. Repeat: Version offered to Canadians via Alliance (Canadian carrier for Universal/Rogue/New Line/ Mirimax) is not a flipper disc.

I distinctly remember that particular hue of blue (even though I wasn't alive 50+ years ago), and I'm deeply offended that Warner Bros. has tried to trick me with such a shoddy high definition transfer.
