The Return of John Carpenter?

Postby Andrew Forbes » Fri Aug 27, 2010 10:49 am

I've just been taking a look at the official site for The Ward, Carpenter's first flick in 9 years. Some of the behind the scenes stuff looks promising, especially the (spoilerish) makeup effects footage, although there is no trailer yet. The movie is set to debut on September 13th at TIFF, according to IMDb. Let's hope it's a return to form. Beware: I have been warned to avoid reading the synopsis on the site, as it apparently gives away a good deal of the plot.

I'd love to see him make his western.
As the ancient Tibetan philosophy states:"Don't start none... won't be none...".

He already did with Ghosts of Mars and Vampires. Don't encourage him.

What about Assault on Precinct 13?
Oh, you're paying way too much for worms, man. Who's your worm guy?

I deliberately left that one off because I know it has its fans around here. For me, it was just far too slow and detached to get caught up in.

To be fair, I think Carpenter could make a pretty badass western--or could have. He's never going to get the chance, though, unless he finances it personally.
