i accidentally dissed this movie on Facebook and was taken to task by a friend who holds this film dear.

whatupwidat? is this a cult film i don't know about?
is Joe Versus the Volcano better than i remember?
I thought it was a pretty awful movie with some very memorable scenes, but maybe that's just me.

Some people like anything. I don't get it. Kind of like the people who like movies with mistakes. They think it's cool that you can see the boom here, or that character a has no gun in once scene and does in the other.

To each their own I suppose.

i no longer read about the goofs in films...it doesn't increase my enjoyment and these items crowd out other memorable features.

I thought it was stupid when I first saw it in high school, but I have a better appreciation for it as an adult. Still no classic, though. At the very least, it did introduce "brain cloud" to my lexicon.

It's a weird film, that's for sure. It has some nice sequences--the opening credits as the workers trudge into the factory is well done. Meg Ryan's triple-role gets a little too precious at times, as though writer Patrick Shanley was wearing his Captain Obvious pajamas while writing..

one of the pro J v V reviews i read, kept telling the reader 'it's a fable', 'its a fable'...i suppose it is in the Big Fish - The Fisher King kinda way...i just still think it wasn't a very good fable.

I always assumed Hanks lost a bet and had to be in the turkey.

It's a mixed bag to be sure. It's not terrible and when the movie works it is actually quite charming & whimisical but when it doesn't work it just kind of lays there.

I think some people enjoy this movie because it has some great scenes of Tom Hanks alone showing how good of an actor he is. Other than that, you are right, this film is pretty forgetable.
