Conan the Barbarian! Hell yes!

The new trailer is here

As someone who's devoured pretty much everything that came out of Robert E. Howard's typewriter, and played the hell out of Funcom's "Age of Conan" computer game (the art department helped with the film's design), this has me VERY VERY happy!

Jason Momoa looks as close to Howard's original caharacter as anyone could want, Lang looks bloody awesome as the villain, and there's just the right mix of epic, dark magic, and pretty ladies. Bring it on!

Now if only it weren't in 3D.

Yeah, this trailer makes me a bit more optimistic. At the very least, it looks dark, atmospheric and violent, as it should be.

And Rose McGowan? Holy crap.

The snippets in the teaser looked a bit Syfy production-ish, but the full trailer is another matter entirely. Giant tentacles, sand demons, Steven Lang and Rose McGowan looking badass, and a Conan who can actually deliver dialogue? I'm almost sold.

Also, even if the movie sucks, it'll have done us a solid if it results in a cross-promotional release of Milius' flick on BD.

I dug the trailer, and I am looking forward to the film. The thing is, I am getting the feeling it doesn't matter how much this film gets right, as "fans" seem determined to hate this film no matter what: Jason Momoa doesn't look like the Conan of the stories, Jason Momoa doesn't look like Arnold, Jason Momoa doesn't look like the Conan of the comics, the director is a hack, it hasn't been made with 300 million dollars, etc.

Well, the trailer is a lot better than the godawful one for Immortals. Momoa is virtually unrecognizable from his Game of Thrones and Stargate Atlantis roles, and he looks like a kickass Conan. And for a Lionsgate release, it looks either extremely well-budgeted. The CGI is a bit off, but everything else looks like a $100M film.

Not sold on Marcus Nispel directing this -- most of his previous remakes were okay to awful.

Pathfinder was pretty damned awesome.A very fitting prelude to Conan i'm thinking.

Not usually my kind of movie, but I may have to see this one. Sweet trailer.
