Another Die Hard movie. They've all been a lot of fun, but this franchise hasn't had a real identity. The first two held a formula ("terrorists take over X location with hostages"), but that was getting unbeleivable as of the first sequel. McClane had to joke about it himself, "how could the same thing happen to the same guy twice?"
Die Hard With A Vengeance expanded it, but the formula was changed. At least it had the Gruber connection to the prior series.
Live Free or Die Hard was all over the place, and felt like a normal action flick that happened to star John McClane. And it doesn't help that John McClane is basically the same character that Bruce Willis plays in most of his movies. So this could've been any action movie. It also had the "let's revive an old franchise" thing, as sequels to Rocky, Rambo, & Indiana Jones were all being released right around then.
But the Die Hard movies are still a blast. And the lesser movies I think are only considered so because they're being compared to the original which is the mother of all action movies. And the titles make me chuckle - this one's called A Good Day to Die Hard.
