House of the Devil

I just finished streaming House of the Devil on Netflix - this has got to be one of the most well made horror films ever to come out in recent times.

There is no way it could survive the modern 7 minute attention span of today's audiences.. It's both a film-geek and horror fan's wet dream...

I have to ask the dumbest question ever to come out on this message board.

Was this film actually made in the 80's?? I've been looking all over and its release date is 2009.... It felt like one of those lost gems.. If it was indeed made in 2009, it had me fooled, every detail to the quality of the film grain is just remarkable...

Seriously.. when was this film made??

WOW! Makes it even more impressive. I cannot recommend this film enough, as I said, you have to be a true film-geek to appreciate it. If you have the 7 minute attention span - you'll literally end up shutting it off in 7 minutes. I would advise only watching this with another person who really, truly appreciates movies.

House of the Devil is incredibly well done. In addition to being creepy as hell, it shows it's possible to do a throwback to the late '70s/early '80s without resorting to camp. The cast is solid from top to bottom, but Tom Noonan was spectacularly creepy.

And the scene in the car between Megan and that stranger provided one of the biggest jolts I've ever had in my life.

Oh dude, that scene was freaking awesome! I think just by mentioning it we gave a bit of it away!

I can't believe the guy who made this film also did CABIN FEVER 2 - and some other movie nobody really heard of..

Really hope he gets the chance to create something like this again!
