Downton Abbey

Anyone else watching this. It's on both Hulu Plus and Netflix so most of us should have access.

Is it just me or is Mary very unlikable? I'd be all over Sybil however.

Mary is strong willed. Nothing wrong that.

As for being all over Sybil...are you an Irish chauffeur by any chance?

Sybil is strong willed. Mary is a spoiled brat. Her father called it perfectly. She thinks of men as toys that should still be waiting every time she puts them down.

However I may not "get" Mary as well as Sybil. I'm not a liberal politically but think liberally. Does that make sense?

Yes, Mary is vindictive and toys with men, but I think she's redeemed by her self-awareness and her ability to feel remorse.

Same goes for O'Brien, if you ask me. There's a spark of humanity that surfaces when you least expect it, and she's still living with the guilt from the "soap incident."

Is her redemption in Season 2? I haven't seen that one yet. Season 1 left things pretty much in the air.
